Beyond the Borders

Beyond the Borders

There was a time when girls were not even allowed to step out of their homes. Thankfully, we have come a long way. Today, girls are ready to go that “extra mile”, quite literally, for the sake of education and exposure. They are no longer daunted by a sense of fear and insecurity and fortunate are those who are actually going international!!
With every passing year, India is noticing a consistent rise in the percentage of girls migrating to foreign universities. In recent times, businesses have increasingly become global and this has in turn made education abroad a more worthwhile experience. Needless to say, more and more girls gear up to take the plunge!! They are in no mood to compromise with their chosen career plan, and if India doesn’t offer much scope in their respective field, they are all set to open doors to wider opportunities with a foreign degree. Apart from the obvious purpose, they are eager to travel, explore, and familiarize themselves with foreign cultures. Academic development is not their only criteria- they aim for an all-round enhancement which will ensure the best future prospects for them.
USA, UK and Canada are usually their favourite destinations. Universities in these countries offer excellent infrastructure and superb facilities in all areas. Research and development work is also given a lot of importance in these universities, which are attracting girls to move there after their graduation, or often, right after completing their high school. They are anxious to grab this chance and want to settle for nothing but the best.
With education loans getting more easily available, parents are also quite willing to send their daughters abroad incurring hefty expenses. Apart from the financial factor, it is worth mentioning that they have emerged out of outdated stereotypes that discouraged the idea of women going out of the country. The 21st century girls refuse to be bowed down with narrower options, given that India has limited high quality educational institutes and majority of the students have to opt for lower tier institutes. Also educational institutes in India occasionally do not offer certain niche courses for higher studies which some students are interested in, hence they look for foreign shores. The flexibility of the course structure in most foreign countries attract a large flock of girls, who want to pursue their passion as well as keep pace with the global market. Extensive alumni networking, academia-industry confluences, seminars and numerous other events contribute to healthy placements. Thus, girls are rubbing shoulders with men at a global platform, harnessing their potential to an optimum level.
With the benefit of an international degree, better placement options and a diverse campus life, girls are more prepared than ever to seek new avenues, broaden their horizons, reinforce their sense of responsibility and initiative and thus give a complete shape to their dreams!!
