Keep it 'Bead'ing!

Keep it 'Bead'ing!

Beads are very much ‘in’ this season. The small, decorative objects that are pierced for threading or stringing into a piece of jewellery, have caught every woman’ fancy. Going back in history, an interesting fact reveals that the earliest known examples of jewellery were made with beads, from Nassarius sea snail shells, approximately 100,000 years old. The art of making artwork or things of craft is called bead-work.
Beaded jewellery are not only elegant in design, but they go well with many types of outfits, be it ethnic, western or Indo-western. Also, the best part is that they are pretty affordable. Since, original beads do not look much different than the imitation ones; women have no qualms about opting for the latter, as they serve the purpose of looking stylish, with equal success.
Beads can be made of different types of materials. Earlier, only naturally obtained beads were used. But with the evolution and advancement of human technology, human became capable of working with a diverse variety of natural as well as synthetic materials. Today, beads are being used in neckpieces, anklets, bracelets, earrings etc. Colourful beaded accessories add spunk and dazzle to one’s look, which is why it has become a rage among women, irrespective of age. They are versatile and durable. Business women can wear it to work and can continue to wear it on while going for an evening party or dinner invitation, or any such casual events.
The beaded jewellery comes in different shapes and sizes, offering a large variety of choice. It is adaptable to pair them up with the right outfits. It has become a large industry now, with handmade beaded jewellery getting prominence as well, as they offer the novelty factor. Style seems to move in a cyclic pattern, rolling things over, bringing the old things back as new and so on. Perhaps this is why the ancient tradition of wearing beads, even in the form of small rocks, animal skins, hairs of an animal etc. (which were said to bring good luck) has come back again, in a revamped way. This is here to stay, which means if you don’t have beads in your jewellery collection already, go grab them now from any market at cheap prices!
