Don't let your skin age before time!
Skin-care is one of the most essential components of beauty regimen. If your skin is healthy and fresh, you will automatically look good. Skin demands differential treatment at different stages of a woman’s life. The skin-care tips that will normally be prescribed to a teenage girl will naturally differ largely from what is advisable to a middle-aged woman.
As one grows older, the skin demands more care and attention. With age, it starts showing signs of degeneration leading to problems like wrinkles, sagging, dullness etc. To ensure that our skin doesn’t age before time, we need to follow certain skin-care tips that will keep the skin healthy and glowing. Regular moisturizing is a must since, with the increasing age, our skin loses moisture, that makes it appear dry and lifeless. Every woman in her 30s and above should compulsorily use a moisturiser on a daily basis right after taking a shower, so as to facilitate better absorption.
Moisturization also minimizes fine lines and wrinkles. Exposure to UV rays of the sun can lead to further deterioration of the skin. As a preventive measure, one should always use a sunscreen lotion, with a high SPF (sun protecting factor) before stepping out of home. Using it on all the exposed areas of the skin will delay its ageing process.
Dullness of skin is mainly attributed to the pile-up of dead skin cells. Regular exfoliation by scrubbing will ensure that the dead skin cells are wiped off. It will also rejuvenate the skin and give it a sparkling glow. However, care must be taken that the scrub is not too aggressive on the skin, and hence one should choose a scrubber that is compatible with one’s skin type. Once the dead skin cells are stripped off, the newer skin beneath is revealed and it feels revived.
The main reason why our skin loses glow as we age is because it loses collagen, a strong, fibrous substance that gives our skin its firm, tight appearance. It is also advisable to use a good serum as part of our daily skin-care. It contains essential vitamins that help retain the skin’s elasticity and firmness. Apart from these, experts suggest that to keep their skin as healthy as that of a young girl, women must take a balanced diet, rich in nutrients. Taking in adequate amounts of water is equally important as it keeps the skin hydrated and flushes out the toxins from one’s system. Unhealthy fats should be strictly avoided in order to let your skin breathe. The characteristics of our skin are largely determined by our lifestyle, which explains why dermatologists advise women to not smoke. Smoking not only decreases the blood flow in the skin by narrowing the tiny blood vessels in the outermost layer of the skin, but it also damages collagen and elastin. One must also be amply gentle with one’s skin, such as by using moderately warm water for a bath, by using mild cleansers instead of strong soaps that are harsh on your skin, not rubbing towel over one’s skin too forcefully, but rather pat it dry, etc.
It is better to adopt these natural means than fretting over damaged skin once it cannot be reversed. These tips are not only inexpensive but are more convenient and time-saving as well. Take the most care of your skin before it is too late.
