Dress like a man – the new chic thing to do!
When we say dress like a man, we don’t mean you literally dress like one of course. We mean, retain your feminity but wear manly clothes in a way that will help highlight and accentuate how much of a woman you are! Here, wearing the pants take on an entirely different meaning altogether. The ‘boyfriend’ look is the in thing, providing you can match the trend and not end up looking awkward.
Raid your boyfriend’s or brother’s closet for an oversized one coloured tee. Wear it over super cute shorts – tuck it in and pull it out at the waist – this will create a comfy yet casual look. White full sleeve shirts can be worn over skinny fit blue jeans, roll up the sleeves till your elbow and cinch the waist with a trendy thin belt in bright colours. This will accentuate your slim waist yet show off a breezy, comfy style.
Wear their jackets – large jackets over girly, floral spaghetti tops and skinny jeans are another way to show off how girly you are. However, make sure the jacket is trendy – not dull brown or ugly else it will take away the fashion aspect. A man’s soft cotton sweat shirt is also great to pull over mini-skirts or shorts – sling a gender neutral messenger bag across your frame and you are ready to go.
Accessorise further with large sunglasses – aviator frames are a rage among women and can look great as a fashion accessory. However, make sure they suit your face. If you have a roundish face with a pointed chin, chances are they will not look good but if you have a broad square face or even a delicate heart shaped one, they will accentuate your womanly features and make you look like quite a fashionista!
Stone washed denims belonging to a man are also probable fashion statements – cut them off at the knees or at the thighs and make them into cool capris or shorts. Their straight, manly fit will look great with a cotton vest or a cropped top. Add a funky belt or a casual bandanna around your neck and head out for an evening of coffee and croissants.
Canvas belts belonging to men can look great with a feminine floral dress and an oversized jumper or woollen sweater can translate into a chic tunic over leggings. Match that with an oversized man’s watch with a chunky leather belt on a slim womanly wrist and let the wannabe tough look do the talking for you. Leather boots without high heels and moccasins in different colours are also man –inspired footwear that are trending in markets currently.
This is a trend which you can follow even at the workplace. Wear fitted black trousers, a crisp white shirt and a waistcoat. Top that with a fitted a-line jacket to look crisp and professional. A favourite accessory with this ensemble is usually large, black shell framed spectacles. They make you look professional and to be quite honest, nerdy, but it works. If you are adventurous, add a slim tie to this outfit and make a fashion statement at work.
You can also work a man’s shirt as a dress – check online to see how exactly it is done! And if you are up for it – make a smart yet sexy statement by wearing just the shirt, cinched at the waist with a belt. And boots, preferably the knee length kind. You will be the cynosure of all eyes, we promise.
