“SHE” - an article dedicated to girls, ladies and women
My eyes were filled with tears, which I could not contain any longer when she embraced me and started crying. It was my sister’s marriage and it was time for her “VIDAAI”.
It is a quagmire; a girls marriage always starts with a lot of joy and happiness but finally it ends with a lot of grief and utter silence in the environment which is usually filled with bevy of guests , relatives, small children, silly jokes , broad smiles, dance , music. With this utter silence in the environment I sat down all alone and thought - and thus penned down these valuable words.
It’s unbelievable, a girl almost has two main characters to play, the one starts when she is unmarried and the other when she gets married. I agree we boys also do the same, but the thing that remains constant in our case is the people and the environment. It’s so sad for a girl, who after after living half of her life with her parents suddenly leaves everything behind and sets off for her new life. She once played in the soil of her birth place, she stood there, she walked there, she lived there. However, at the end of her life, she will be cremated in soil that is far from her birth place.
She immerses herself in her new life, she adjusts with people, she adjusts with situations but still she doesn’t forget her mother, father, brother and sister. This is proof that women have large, all encompassing hearts.
But still after all these hardships, she is still criticized in each phase of her life. Think about how a girl feels when she is criticized and beaten by her husband all alone in an unknown world, but still she accepts it all with a lot of grace. How pathetic you husbands are, who do so. Think about it, it’s nothing less than barbarism!!”
I take a kowtow before you all “SHEs” … your life is the most difficult one and still people think girls are born to get married and live off their husbands.
Female foeticide still rampant in today's so called modern society. Women are eve-teased, they are raped. How can a human being treat another in such a brutal manner?
The ugly truth is that the situation is being ignored.
Grow up and open your eyes - for once feel their situation, put yourselves in their shoes. It’s time we RESPECT, we ADORE, we SAVE, we CARE for the “SHEs” of our lives.
