Make-up is never a bad thing. It adds instant glamour and radiance to the face, and it makes sure that we look our best at all times. And nowadays, almost every woman wears at least essential make-up on a daily basis. While it has become a more common phenomenon, there is such a thing as too much make-up. The purpose of make-up is to make one look radiant and beautiful while trying to keep the look as natural as possible. In the simplest form, it is used to enhance existing attributes. However, often, this enhancement is taken a step further, and that is when things start to get awry.
The worst possible mistakes are invariably made with foundation. The purpose of this particular layer of make-up is to make the skin look as smooth and flawless as possible. However, in order to do so, the foundation needs to be of very good quality and it needs to be as close to the person’s skin tone as possible. People often end up choosing shades of foundation which are (more often) lighter, and sometimes darker than their original skin tone. It shows immediately, and it never, ever fails to be noticed (and not in a good way). Bad quality of foundation can also make the skin look flaky or the foundation may get very caked-up on the face. These mistakes should always be avoided.
Similar to the foundation, it is also very easy to go wrong with the concealer. Often, people end up choosing lighter shades of concealers, with the misconception that they will hide the under-eye dark-circles better. It will not. The lighter concealers only make it more obvious that dark-circles exist, because they stand out from the regular skin tone. One also has to dab just the right amount on blemishes and other skin-marks, in order to make the face look natural as possible.
There is also such a thing as overdoing the loose powder or the compact. Unless one is dressing up as a zombie for a fancy-dress competition, too much powder is not a very good idea. It shows very obviously, and it also makes the face look unnecessarily white and colourless.
When it comes to the eyes, a lot can be done to make them look bigger, brighter, and downright luminous. But these strategies, when overdone, can make the eyes look droopy, aged, and unappealing. Firstly, one should never try to draw over their eyebrows to make them more pronounced, unless they have really thin and really light eyebrows. Drawn-in eyebrows end up producing a very obviously artificial look. The mascara too, should be applied in moderation, and one should not try to apply mascara which has started to dry up. It makes the eye-lashes clump together, and that in turn, produces a very unattractive sight. One should also know when to stop with the eye-shadow. Too much of it will just make the person in front of you gape or cringe.
The lips are also very essential. Although it is very hard to go wrong with make-up for the lips, people still do. The lip-liner, when used, should be the exact shade of the filler. It looks hideous when one can see the lip-liner distinctly, and it does look striking, but not in a good way.
The base-line to avoiding make-up blunders is, to choose the make-up items wisely, and to not overdo anything. When these simple guidelines are followed, then one only needs to sit back and let make-up do its magic and transform you.
