Black and white: too classic to be boring
Colours may come, and colours may go, but black and white shall stay on forever. Despite the test of time and trends, black and white has remained a favourite amongst the fashion-lovers. And why would you not? The combination has immense potential and it can never look boring. These two colours can create flirty, sophisticated, demure and edgy looks with equal panache. And they can be thrown in together in so many ways, that it would be a dizzying task to just list the possibilities which these monochrome shades have.
While black it itself has numerous possibilities, and while the little black dress will never really fall out of any fashionista’s wardrobe, the little black and white dress too, is not far behind in asserting itself as an evergreen item in the closet. The year 2013 came by and reinforced the beauty of the monochrome dressing sense throughout the fashion circles across the globe. The runways across the world have been filled with monochrome combinations which are being used in different, very innovative ways. We have all seen the black pants and white shirt combination, but why not turn it around and make it the white pants, and black, lace top combination. Its luxurious, it is daring, and it is incredibly attractive.
Also, stripes are in, this season. And black and white come together to make some pretty good stripes which can be bigger and bolder. If we’re talking about florals as well, there is no reason why the monochrome colour combination cannot pull off a good floral print. And polka dots are unquestionably much better in monochrome. If you want to bring up the drama, then pick a top/shirt/dress with big, white polka dots on a black background. However, if you want to keep it subtle, then just go in for white background with smaller black polka dots. That is a part of the magic of the monochrome combination. It can recreate just about any kind of look and feel.
Its not just monochrome clothes which are ruling the fashion scores, the accessories are also getting a monochrome touch to them. A black tote is a classic, and so is a white one, but the combination of black and white is turning out to be so deliciously fashionable, that various kinds of bags such as clutches, totes, shoulder-bags and sling bags are getting “monochromized” in order to give them than extra touch of glamour. Shoes too, are coming out in different shades of black and white, which are keepers, because they will go with just about any item of clothing.
The animal prints too, are not immune to the ageless charm of monochrome. While the zebra print has to have a monochrome colour scheme, even the leopard prints are testing out the colour combination of black and white, and it looks like they’re happy with what they’ve made of it. The whole year will bring about numerous style changes and fashion experiments. But the year 2013 has begun with the reassertion that black and white will reappear in the history of fashion, till history exhausts itself.
