What to wear on V-Day!!
Valentine’s Day is all about love. It’s not just about love for your partner, its also love for everyone else around you, and most importantly, its about celebrating the concept of love itself, which means loving yourself too! For this special day, even if you do not have elaborate plans for the day, or for the night, with a loved one, you should go out and paint the town red all by yourself, or you should just subject yourself to a full day of pampering.
Either way, dressing up is a very important aspect of loving yourself. Dressing up always makes one feel good and boosts one’s confidence. So, for Valentine’s Day, grab a couple of really cool dresses, or rummage around in your closet for some, and give yourself a mini-makeover at home, so that you feel like the diva all day!
If you have plans for the morning, then do not go for materials like satin or leather. Stick to softer colours and breezy, easy going materials for the dresses. Put on a peach lace dress, or maybe a sheath dress with a floral print. For a distinctly easy going look and feel, put on a flowing maxi-dress, slip on a pair of wedges, and head out of the house. Floral prints, materials such as cotton, chiffon and lace, as well as flowing, easy-going cuts are the best options for a day out. If you want to stand out and really turn heads, opt for some serious colour blocking! But do not over-do it with print-blocking or with too much accessorizing. Save the really elaborate stuff for the night.
If you have plans for the night, then you have all the liberty in the world to amplify the drama, and to bring on the bling. Animal prints are the rage this season as well. An animal print dress would look very, very chic, and there are many options to choose from. If you want to shine, then go the daring way, and wear a sequined pair of shorts with a single-coloured top or shirt. It will really stand out. A one shoulder dress in a single bright colour will also be a very good option, and palazzos, with a body hugging top will definitely get heads turning. If you have a very glamorous event to attend, then put on a gown. These are evergreen dresses which instantly add an air of luxury to the wearers. But for the truly Indian soul, just go on and put on a sari with a well fitting, well-cut blouse. Nothing looks sexier than a sari which has been draped well.
In terms of colours, red is something which always stands out. Wear warm, passionate colours for the night, such as maroon, purple, gold and silver. Black shall always remain a classic colour, and animal prints in innovative colours are sure to stand out. For the daytime, peach, pink, white, blue and ivory are the colours to target. Of course, the conventional colours left aside, one can also experiment with darker shades of green, electric blue, bright yellow, and fuschia! Whatever you pick, make sure you love what you see in the mirror, and you’re all dressed up for V-Day, no matter what you’re wearing!
