Jab we met Kareena Kapoor!
Kareena Kapoor is no stranger to stardom and spotlight. Ever since she hit the silver screen she has been under keen scrutiny simply because of the Kapoor lineage – everything ranging from her looks to her clothes, her acting and her style of delivery were watched closely by the audiences. In the beginning, she did face a lot of flak for her weight, the terrible decision of dying her hair a strange shade of yellow and later for slimming down to enormous and dangerous levels for a movie. However, highs and lows notwithstanding, Kareena Kapoor has finally made it big – both personally and professionally. Married into royalty ( literally) to Saif Ali Khan, Nawab of Pataudi, and riding a perennial high where films are concerned, Bebo, as she is fondly called is now the inspiration for many starry eyed girls who follow her in every way they can. The best way they pay homage to her is of course, is by carefully and doggedly following her fashion sense, copying her style the best they can. Of course they don’t have to do much as Kareena’s style is quite effortlessly chic and she dresses up in minimal accessories and stylish numbers. She first burst onto the style circuit, and into the hearts of college girls everywhere with her long t-shirt – Patiala pants combo in the film Jab We Met. Girls loved the spunky Geet in the movie and her sense of girlish style – Patiala salwar pants – long ballooned fabric sewn into pleats were voluminous companions to tight fitting t-shirts that reach the tops of the thighs. After that, a svelte Kapoor has been spotted in figure hugging pants, short tops with halter necks, body con dresses and bikinis not to mention the latest fad she is sporting – sarees! Kareena Kapoor has redefined the saree – the way she wears it is chic, extremely stylish and fashionable. In her much lauded item numbers, she is seen wearing tiny bikini blouses with contrasting colours, barely-there ties at the back and plunging necklines in front. The sarees are all diaphanous material and showcase her narrow frame to perfection. Thus, a new trend has been started and you can copy her style statement by buying shimmery chiffons bordered with lace or stone work and pair them with a daring blouse. Interesting combinations of hot pink with green, neon yellow with pink and other such daring contrasts are also her new style mantra. Now fans of the star will have even closer access to her style secrets – Kareena has recently published a book – Style Diary of a Bollywood Diva in which she reveals her fashion and beauty secrets. She gives her fans tips on how to replicate some of her iconic looks such as the red shimmer choli and red pants look in “Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham”, and of course the Salwar and T-shirt from Jab We Met.
