Quirky summer fashion
Are you and intrepid fashionista? Are you always looking for out-of-the-box fashion which grabs eyeballs and puts you in the spotlight? Then this seasons fashion trend of quirky patterns is for you.
This spring season is to be loud, colourful and bright. Thus, neon shades are flooding the market in accessories, nail paint, clothes and shoes. Big and chunky earrings, necklaces and rings are the chosen items when one is going out for a date, casual brunch or even a formal party. And florals, polka dots, checks and other clichéd motifs are being shown the back door by a new trend in prints and patterns – Warhol-esque faces, telephones, glasses, owls, cats and what have you.
These prints add a fun element to your outfit, and you can wear them in any way you wish, as a jacket, as a tunic top, a balloon top or as a shirt. They will most definitely up your glamour quotient. Not interested in wearing a top with quirky prints? Switch and wear them the other way around – wear leggings printed with funky spectacles, a kitschy pair of trousers or a pair of jodhpur pants – or even shorts and hotpants.
Usually, these prints are on a funky contrast base and look really cool. You can wear a green blouse with a ‘chashma’ print and pink collars, a jacket of the same effect or pair neon green with orange for a patriotic look. Wear these with neutral or pastel shades to tone down the effect else you might end up looking a little too bright. Same goes for pants – if you are wearing quirky printed pants then wear a white or a black top. Pants or dresses printed with a moustache motif look cute and extremely quirky.
If you are all the more outgoing then opt for a dress in quirky prints – a white based cloth with quirky prints such as cats, dolls, faces, owls, flying birds, even entire sceneries etc, clinched with a slender belt at the waist, with two tiny pockets and perhaps a contrasting block of colour around the hem will make for a great summery outfit. Pair it with a clutch bag in something neon or cotton candy and you are good to go.
Alternatively, a white shift dress topped with a quirky printed jacket will look fresh and cool as well.
Pair a pair of quirky printed shorts with a pretty white spaghetti, covered with a lace shrug. Wear a pair of wedges and sling a bag in turquoise, fuschia or mustard yellow across your body and you are set to go.
There are bags, clutches, scarves and even shoes in quirky prints now, if only you know where to look for them. Even though they have not hit the mass markets, many new and upcoming designers are promoting themselves by fashioning new trends and promoting them via social media marketing sites. Check them out online for ideas or fashion them at home with fabric paint and plain white cloth. Wear them with élan and make a style statement this summer!
