How stylish is Angelina Jolie?
Very stylish we say. Nowadays, her appearances on the red carpet always elicit admiring exclamations and they are well deserved. Angelina’s sartorial choices have changed over the years and one can easily note the transformation from mean-girl goth chic to elegant and sophisticated family woman who exudes confidence. Angelina’s style strategies on the red carpet are pretty much unmatched by most other Hollywood celebs. As a child, Angelina was a fresh faced innocent who famously posed wearing a crop top and boy shorts , without any discernible make up or shoes in 1991. It is evident she was a trend setter from the very beginning with this ensemble as crop tops and shorts are a huge trend at the moment internationally. More childhood photos of Angelina show a little girl who was not quite bothered about whether she was wearing high fashion, even though both her parents were celebrities. Early photographs of her show a little girl who wore baggy outfits, some of which would be considered absolute disasters by children today – all flounce and ruffle and lace. As she grew older, she went through a phase of rebellion where she wore black clothes predominantly, experimented with knife play and started decorating her body with numerous tattoos. Her teens and her twenties were disturbed years and she confesses how she had suicidal thoughts and suffered from deep depression. Her style sense reflected this mental condition and her rail thin figure was photographed wearing all black, tight outfits with blood red lips as an accessory. A little later on in life, she started dressing in an androgynous fashion, wearing pants, shirts and jackets – sometimes showing off eddy tattoos on her stomach and waist line, other times going for the grunge look which was all about tank tops and leather pants with spiked jewellery and a general unwashed, messy look. It was after she and handsome hunk Brad Pitt got together – again amid controversies of Brad cheating on his wife Jennifer Aniston – that her fashion sense started improving. She started appearing in sleek and sophisticated outfits on the red carpet as well as at movie premieres etc, and when she was photographed out with her children too, she sported a smart and chic fashion sense. It is evident that falling in love with Brad Pitt did her a world of good. She started wearing long flowing gowns in beautiful shades of teal, gold, emerald and other colours which immediately caught the eye. The clothing would fit her like a second skin and she would choose styles that tastefully showed off her body art instead of making her look like a tramp. Clean silhouettes which flowed down from her hips, skimming her waist and accentuating her shapely figure, gowns with low cut backs – Angie made sure she was the cynosure of all eyes wherever she went. She once famously wore a gown backwards so that the plunging neckline showcased her back. Even when she was pregnant she did not fail to set the style bar high with flowing maxi dresses with sequinned details framing her baby bump which she proudly showed off. Recently, after undergoing a double mastectomy as a preventive measure against cancer, Angelina appeared with Brad Pitt at the premiere of his new movie wearing an all black ensemble with a bit of see through detailing at the bust. However, soon after the couple appeared again with Angelina in a stunning peplum dress which showed off her figure very well – especially thanks to the beautiful and chic thick metal gold detailing at the waist. Some eyebrows were raised at her seemingly well formed chest and many commented that reconstructive surgery after the mastectomy had been beneficial, but as we all know, grapes are sour when you are not Angelina Jolie!
