Eat organic: healthy for you and the environment!
Sure, the big, green vegetables which you’re getting from your usual market look very pretty and very substantial, but often, this is the cause of a lot of chemical treatment which is thrust upon your vegetables, in order to make them look the way they do. The regular fruits and vegetables which we buy may look healthy, but they’re not. Organic fruits and vegetables are much healthier to the body as well as to the environment.
If you’re wondering why your skin is not glowing and why you’re not feeling top-notch in terms of health, look no further than your supposedly healthy and unadulterated vegetables. Most of them are grown so as to look healthy and nutritious, and while the latter may hold true to a certain extent, it is juxtaposed with the amount of chemicals which the vegetable is virtually soaked in. Organic produce, in comparison, is much better, because it is not grown with gallons of pesticides and insecticides. They’re better to your body, and they’re much better for the ecology.
Eating organic produce will help you feel better by the end of the day. They’re not made to look shiny and pretty, and they are not grown in fields drenched in chemicals. These chemicals are not just harmful for you, though. Eating organic food is also a stand which one takes against environmental degradation. The pesticides which are pumped into the fields end up damaging the soil irreparably. Also, when the residual water from these fields percolates down to a water body, it ends up polluting our very scarce fresh-water reserves. These chemicals are not just harmful for the human body, they end up killing a lot of our natural flora and fauna. From small insects to plant-life we generally do not take notice of, from small fishes to other aquatic creatures, inorganic food items do more damage than good.
An organic vegetable may not look as green and large as its inorganic counterpart, but it is assuredly a much healthier option. Chances are, the latter is made to look that way with the help of a lot of chemicals which will end up damaging your system slowly but surely. Organic food is also beneficial on its own right. It contains a lot of phenol which battles cancer and boosts immunity. While all vegetables and fruits have nutritional value, in case of inorganic produce, most of the smaller nutritional factors are killed off because of the heavy chemical treatment it is made to undergo.
So, opt for organic fruits and vegetables! Not only will they make you feel better immediately, they also taste much nicer than their chemically treated cousins. While we may be content in deluding ourselves by eating inorganic food, we’re encouraging the painful degradation and pollution of the ecology all around us. This pollution may not be immediately visible, but they show themselves over time, and these are ill-effects which cannot be reversed over a short period of time.
Show solidarity to mother-nature, show solidarity to healthy living, and go get yourself some organic produce today.
