Harem pant jumpsuits – stylish and comfortable clothing
For many women, being stylish is also about being comfortable. We have all seen examples of uncomfortable styles and they date back many years. For example, think about the fact that women started wearing whalebone corsets to nip their waists in, never mind that they would faint from the lack of air. Or Chinese women bound had their feet bound tightly with strips of cloth from the time they were infants because small feet were considered a sign of good breeding and royalty. More recently, we are sure everyone has noticed how terrible fashion queen Victoria Beckham’s feet look with bunions and large inflamed bones sticking out from her extremely expensive designer shoes which usually have sky high heels.
However, thankfully, it seems that the trend is now leaning towards being more comfortable as well as being fashionable. Comfort clothing does not necessarily mean oversized tee shirts and baggy pants with elastic waists. The same concepts can be integrated into stylish outfits, without making you look like a hobo.
Harem pant jumpsuits are examples of such clothing. Both are different and fashionable clothing styles in their own rights but of late the fashion industry has seen the two merge into a very significant style statement. Harem pants are loose flowing pants that usually have elastic waists. They can be worn with stylish short tops to make a fashion statement and jumpsuits are one piece suits that have been ruling the runways for some time now. A take on the very utilitarian overalls and some would say – onesies that babies wear, jumpsuits have fabulous spaghetti strap necklines and ruched detailing so while they are comfortable, they are also incredibly fashionable.
Which brings us to the harem pant jumpsuit style – evidently as the name suggests, it is a blend of the two styles, with the legs of the jumpsuits more wide and flowing that usual and the material stitched together to form an entire outfit instead of two separate pieces. They can be worn by anyone, though they look best on tall women and you can experiment with several looks. If you wear a jacket over a harem pant jumpsuit you can easily wear it to work as well – simply slip it off when you are done at the office to transform your look into a casual and chic one. Jackets and shrugs can be used if the straps are noodle or spaghetti straps or if you have perfectly boned shoulders and collarbones and are daring enough to wear a strapless tube top one.
Often, a harem pant jumpsuit also has pockets which add to the style quotient, which you can further jazz up by adding sequined detailing. It is a wise idea to go for such outfits in monochrome or small prints as large prints might make the outfit too noisy. If you have heavy hips and a large waist, you can still wear a this style providing you get an elastic waistband attached to it to give you space to move and stretch without a problem. You can also draw a harem pant up to your chest and secure it with a belt for your own take on harem pant jumpsuits - this look has caught on with the younger fashion brigade in a big way!
