Try the peplum style in your wedding dress

Try the peplum style in your wedding dress

Peplum style has not only gained popularity in dresses and skirts, but it is being widely incorporated into wedding gowns as well, and is being loved by would-be brides. Pretty and romantic, this style has been around since quite some time, but has resurged into the fashion arena recently, lending a different style and adding another option to the available choices of wedding dresses.
The peplum style is particularly good for those that have a body shape called an inverted triangle, that is, narrower on the bottom half and wider shoulders. Peplum styles add balance to such a body shape, adding volume to your hip area and creating the illusion of an hourglass figure. Though a retro trend, this is being reinvented in myriad ways to complement curves, mask hips and thighs and cinch in the waist in such a way that flatters your figure. This style, when implemented on your wedding dress, will flatter your body wonderfully. Popularized by Dior in the 1940’s, it has evolved in a bigger and bolder way in the bridal world. Much more than just a fad, the peplum trend in wedding gowns is complimented by grand frills, exaggerated layers, and structured ruffles that fall from the waist to the hips. All these, further adorned with soft tulle and floral appliqué, or even smaller lace frills, give that perfect balance of whimsical touch and elegant look to your wedding gown.
Designers are of the opinion that the peplum style in a wedding dress not only adds exuberance to the entire look but also divides the body in such a way that suits all body types. You can choose amongst gathered peplum, flared peplum, pleated peplum or asymmetrical peplum. Since the peplum style is itself romantic and dreamy so to say, it is advisable to choose minimal accessories. Designers and stylists are not content with just experimenting with peplum in wedding dresses. This has also urged them to try out different shades and colours of wedding dresses, deviating from the much-regular white. Believe it, you will most definitely find a peplum wedding dress for you out there, perfectly tailored to suit your body shape and bridal style. Be it oversized or asymmetrical, sleek and simple, cropped and airy, the key to land up in this fashion statement is to choose the perfect one for your body type.
You can go for a ball gown with a 3D lace embellishment as the peplum, or a strapless one with a mermaid silhouette, sheath, trumpet or A-line, depending on your preferences. So go ahead and add that dash of retro glamour to your wedding dress with the much sought-after peplum style, breaking the monotony of age-old gowns.
