Kareena Kapoor Khan goes international!
Kareena Kapoor Khan is sure riding high on the waves of success! A glamorous diva as well as a superbly talented actress, she deserves no less. Though born into Bollywood’s “first family’, as the Kapoors are usually referred to, she didn't have all of it so easy. Most of her initial movies did not work, and she failed to garner both commercial success and critical recognition. However, she chose to make her failures only pillars to ensuing success, which did not elude her for long. The rest as they say, is history! With copious accolades from the nation pouring in at her power-packed performances, she recently was honoured by the British Government at the House of Commons. Amidst with the Members of Parliament and Asian Sunday newspaper, this honour was heaped on her for her contribution to the global entertainment industry, at the launch of the London edition of the newspaper, on the 29th of October, 2013. On behalf of the British Government, Rt Hon Keith Vaz MP, Chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee, honoured the light-eyed actress. Bradford and London MP’s, VIP’s, dignitaries and influencers from diverse business and media sectors graced this milestone occasion. She, along with singer Kimberley Walsh and magician Dynamo (aka Steven Frayne) was presented a framed golden coloured plaque. As Kareena Kapoor Khan told the media, UK has always been one of her most favourite destinations. Over the years, India and UK have shared cordial terms and with time, the bond has strengthened. She also recollected that her association with UK began with her family ties, as her great grandmother was from Britain and her father-in-law, late Nawab of Pataudi, had captained Oxford cricket team. The celebrated actress, who looked ravishing in her grey anarkali, with embroidery and 'resham' work, also stated that England has been kind to her. It was lovely to spot her in this Manish Malhotra ensemble ‘desi’ avatar in an international event. The leading lady who has delivered stellar performances in movies such Omkara, Jab We Met, 3 Idiots, Heroine etc., wowed one and all with her traditional look in the said ceremony. Apparently, she became the first Bollywood actress and second Indian to be honoured by the British Parliament. Apart from numerous awards that she has won in her career so far, she has also been the recipient of several honours by different organization groups. Be it the Marco Ricci Society Young Achiever Award, or the Rajiv Gandhi Young Achiever Award, or the Smita Patil Memorial Award, The Global Achievement Award, the India Today Woman Award, and so on! In the past years, she has also been amongst the ten recipients of the IIFA-FICCI’s award for “Most Powerful Entertainer of the Decade”, and the “Most Profitable Actress of the Year” by the ETC Bollywood Business Awards. She also became the only Indian actress to be featured on CNNGo’s list of “Who Mattered Most in India”. A style icon, she has received titles by eminent magazines and polls , such as “India’a Most Beautiful Woman”, “India’s Hottest Woman”, and what not! Even Forbes’ bore her name in its list of India’s biggest entertainers, while India Today selected her as one of India’s most influential women.
