Needle marbling - make a style statement with your nails!

Needle marbling - make a style statement with your nails!

Marbling is a technique where the nail colors intermix and form unique patterns on your nails. Usually marbling is done with water and nail paints. That technique requires a lot of practise and time. If you are looking to do something quick yet something that still gives the same lovely effect as water marbling then needle marbling is just for y

For needle marbling you need

1. 3 nail paints of your choice

2. A needle/toothpick/nail art dotting tool

(For a complete picture guide to the needle marbling tutorial, do refer to the numbered images in the gallery below.)

To begin with apply one vertical thick line of each nail paint on your nail side by side. For best results do the entire procedure one nail at a time so that the nail paints don't dry out before you can start with the needle. ( Refer to Image 1 and 2)

Now take a needle and draw over the still wet paint as you desire. In the pictures I have drawn V shapes on the nail paint. Remember the trick is to not pick up the needle while you are creating the pattern. This way all the nail colors intermix giving a lovely pattern on your nails. ( Image 3)

You can also do a zig-zag pattern from top to bottom of the nail, a swirly pattern across the nail or any other pattern that comes to mind. The nail art looks more vivid with brighter colors that stand off against each other. ( Image 4)

What I have done is kept one nail without the marbling - this is called the accent nail - on which I have adorned a french tip with glitter. ( Image 5)

Do try out needle marbling, its easy, fun, and your nails will surely be the center of attraction!
