A go-to guide for summer care
The month of May means there will be trouble at bay. The scorching summer heat is something that no one can escape. Risk of having sunburns and stroke always hover over our heads and thus the question arises, how so we combat the heat? Here are certain options we can try out to fight the rather hot period of May to mid June.
One of the most important factors to be taken care of in this season is our skin. Maintaining balance between our food and lifestyle enables us to have a healthy skin. Visit clean and hygienic beauty parlours where your skin is valued and cared for. Try a pedicure/manicure to get rid of the dead skin cells. For the season, invest in protective skin products according to your skin type. A good sunscreen is an extremely essential part of a woman’s make-up kit. Apply sunscreen every time you are about to step-out. Use moisturizers, oil-free face wash and sunscreen on a regular basis. Also make sure you keep them handy. Check for products which offer complete protection from UVA & UVB rays. Perfumed face-wipes are a good option to have in your handbag at all times.
Tip: If you are out for water sports, make sure you reapply sunscreen every 45 minutes.
2.Food and lifestyle
Include vegetables, fibrous and protein-rich foods in your diet. Have fruit-juices and milkshakes instead of staple tea-coffee. Opt for food which has a cooling-effect, for example: salads with cucumber or lettuce. Avoid booze and unhealthy spree of food. It is very easy to gorge on food, so prefer lighter meals. Avoid long-gaps between meals. You might be tempted to wear that colored jeans to beat the heat. Summer sales are at their all time high. Rather opt for light cotton clothing preferable in lighter colors. It helps in keeping your skin cooler.
Women love their hair, be it short or long; straight or wavy. Apart from skin, our hair is extremely prone to the summer heat. Adding the current pollution levels, a routine hair care is extremely essential. We can protect our skin with sunscreen but what about our hair? Cover up in the sun, use glares, shawl, or 'dupatta' to protect your hair from direct heat. Use mild hair products. If you cannot wash your hair daily, make sure you do at least twice a week. This will help to maintain the moisture. A good hair conditioner might already be smiling at you from your shelf, use it wisely. Avoid any hair-related experiments and treatments.
4.Keep a tab
Yes you read that right. Keep a tab on yourself. You know yourself the best. If you notice any changes or health issues, get to the doctor ASAP. The summer brings in lots of diseases too, from the throat infections to the viral flu. Beware of skin allergies. Drink lots of liquids and keep yourself hydrated.
Avoid direct sunlight as much as possible unless you are at the beach for a tan. Treat yourself to a good spa session. Rejuvenate yourself; after all, a break is always needed. Last but not the least, Smile, be happy and remember that the summer is just a season - it will soon give way to cooler climes. Cheers, enjoy!
